CAPE COD TIMES: Irish Rovers embark on final tour

For nearly 50 years, touring has been a mainstay of Irish folk band The Irish Rovers' long, successful career. But with the Canadian-based group's current worldwide "Farewell to Rovin' Tour" --- which makes its way to Hyannis on Friday night --- the Irish-born musicians mark the end of their life on the road. Rovers founding member and lead singer George Millar says it was time to "cut back," given their age and the demands of touring. "It's the everyday travel that gets to you," Millar says in a phone interview. "You're in a different hotel every night and you're in the car or you're on a plane going somewhere. That's for young (men) to do and young women, not for geezers like us."
